Childrens Literacy Foundation Grant

The library has recieved a grant of children's books from CLiF, The Childrens' Literacy Foundation. Today, Duncan McDougal presented the books to the fourth grade students at the elementary school. Duncan is a wonderful storyteller and had a captivated audience as he told about studying penguins in Antartica and Tarantulas in French New Guinea. Just when the students could believe no more he revealed that he had not travelled to these exotic locations by plane, boat, train or car but by book!
Duncan shared some of the new books with the students and finished the presentation by reading Tale of a Tail by Judit Z. Bodnar -- a must read about a fox who thinks he can get out of sharing his dinner with a bear.
Come down to the library and check out the 106 new picture books, chapter books, graphic novels and audio books that the has helped us add to our collection -- and just in time for the Summer Reading Program too (more about that, later.)
List of new CLiF books!

Gardens and Anniversaries

The Fire Hydrant Garden has been planted, it is beautiful! One of my favorite plants is making an appearance, it is a show stopper called Love Lies Bleeding. The library has a lot of great gardening books so you can get ideas by just walking by or coming in!

A few of the books in our collection are:

Tomorrow is my eighth anniversary. My husband and I both grew up in NH and we were also married here! I grew up on Lake Winnepasauki and so HAD to be married during Motorcycle Weekend,
I'm not sure what all the guests thought, but I had the time of my life. Here is a map of my New Hampshire, including a few of my favorite spots!

The Library Loans Magazines?

That's right, think of all the money and space in the recycling bin you could save yourself by borrowing magazines from us!
We carry magazines for kids and adults, newshounds and gardeners, quilters and woodworkers, scientists and cooks, skateboarders and librarians!
The library currently offers over 50 magazine subscriptions.
Just think, you could have a magazine at home for a week for free and then be troubled by it no more! If you're like me, checking magazines out from the library is the perfect solution to those impulse buys waiting in line at the grocery store!
