A new way to "read" a book review

Give this website a look ExpandedBooks.
Fun videos that are also book reviews, some done by the authors themselves!
I watched Jasper Fforde and Greg Hurwitz
This is a pretty neat idea -- so go ahead and watch a review or two.

Who's finished reading IT?

If you're not sure what "IT" is, it's the final installment of Harry Potter. There are no spoilers here, but hopefully, we'll get some discussion going in the comments section.
I got home from work at 3:15pm on Saturday and my book was waiting for me. My husband ran to the store and got all sorts of yummy, and fairly healthy snacks, and I got comfortable on the couch and got down to business. I took a few breaks to do some library related work but that was about it. I finished the book at 1:30am on Sunday morning. It was hard for me to fall asleep because of all the words swimming in front of my eyes.
So did I like it? As anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm really good at keeping secrets, especially when they relate to what has happened in a book. So, yes I liked it, and unless you have already finished the book, that is all I'm going to say!

Vacation here I come!

It is finally here, the last hour of work before vacation -- hooray! I have so been looking forward to my trip to Bar Harbor, Maine that I can hardly stand it! I still have to do all the laundry, pack, get the dog ready to visit her sister, arrange for my neighbor, the pet sitter extraordinaire, to take care of the cats.

I also love to put out clean towels and clean sheets on my bed before I travel so when I come back exhausted, I can fall right into bed!

The following is a list of things I hope to do while I'm away:

  • READ! where I'll be doing all my reading -->

  • mini golf

  • play scrabble

  • eat lobster

  • READ!

  • rent bicycles to ride the trails in Acadia National Park

  • clipper ship ride

  • READ!

Here is a list of my favorite places to go in Bar Harbor:

I love everything about Bar Harbor and Acadia, but my most loved thing is the smell of the ocean -- is that weird? Maybe in a past life I was a mermaid or a sea captain.
We will be driving to Bar Harbor, which takes about 6 hours, because I love to travel on Route 1 and see all the coastal towns. I especially like to stop in Camden, Maine for a snack and watch the boats come into the docks. Camden also has a great, busy library with a fun outdoor children's courtyard.

Don't forget to visit the library to see what kind of post cards I send! While I am away and not able to check my favorite library related websites -- why don't you do it for me:

The book sale was a huge success!

Thanks to everyone who came down to the library for our book sale/bake sale/white elephant extravaganza! We had such a great day. The weather the perfect, the volunteers were outstanding, and I can't say enough about the live entertainment. That's right, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT! Dan and Ty played some great music for us throughout the day. I wish that we could set aside a place for them to play every day at the library -- they are so great. Hopefully, they will come and play for us again.

One of the volunteers said to me that they never could have imagined how much work goes into a book sale, and I agree, they definitely take a lot of time to plan and they involve some serious weight training. But it is always rewarding when you can help someone find exactly what they are looking for. We were able to help people find books on nursing, the history of mathematics, sailing, and even books written in foreign languages.

We will be having another book sale in September and would love your donations! Give us a call to find out when we will be taking them.
